We are a vibrant collective from the sea— from bright coral reefs to the deepest, darkest depths.
We’re the crustacean-cum-humanoid troupe bringing fun back to Magic the Gathering.
Currently dotted across New Zealand Aotearoa, we’re building a virtual and physical community space for MTG with a focus on generosity, friendship, fun & compulsory cult conscription.
We create original Magic content and sell a wide variety of EDH decks (better known as Commando). We sporadically sell singles at competitive prices, aiming to outdo any LGS in NZ.
We encourage players, collectors, buyers and sellers alike to use www.mtgsingles.co.nz to gauge what fair prices are for cards in New Zealand & move away from the outdated ‘CK 1:1’ mentality. A dollar isn’t a dollar, folks! It’s time to stop devaluing our collections.

Weighing in at over 1200 Copies of Thought Lash, Toby enters the Ring of Kelp here at the Happy Homarid. He’s a former professional librarian and welterweight Boxing Champ, from Pennsylvania, USA.

He’s been playing on/off since Ice Age.
Toby is an old school foil collector, “Johnny Combo” player, and struggles not to put Thought Lash and Thassa’s Oracle in every blue deck he builds. His first real deck was Turbo Stasis, followed by Enduring Renewal Ornithopter Goblin Bombardment.
Toby has around 500,000 cards in his collection. He plays EDH and draft/sealed exclusively, though he meddled with Legacy as a young Camarid.
The financial side of Magic the Gathering is where Toby shines through the murky waters we wade in.

How would you describe Dan in one word, if not m y s t e r i o u s?
Humble! Dan was a long-suffering judge for many years, inhaling more nerd bodysmell than anyone ever should. This was way back in the day when Magic was in black and white, and it wasn’t acceptable to suggest players improve their hygiene levels by utilizing in-store fresher uppers.
Dan’s always thought of himself as a collector first & a player second. He’s also a rad trader, and has a really gnarly, sponge-filled collection! Legend has it that he even has a full set of Portal 3k, which he plans on passing to King Kookus one day!
These days, Dan likes to recreate top-tier 60 card decks from throughout the eons
King Cole is the most enthusiastic creature in the entire sea of cheese. Though he’s relatively new to the game, his eagerness and excitement about all things MTG is impressive.

From entering as a newbie, he’s fully emerged himself in sea water. Oh , and Magic the Gathering. He’s supported King Kookus’ quirky deck building sweatshop many times, and has quite the imaginative mind himself . That’s where this eager seaman splurges onto our shores.
King Cole is a young whipper snapper destined for great things, but for now he’s just bobbing around in the sea, and we are happy to officially welcome him to the team.
